8 December 2010: The seventh edition of the F/Radar internet survey has been released, quantifying the number of Brazilians that jump online. The survey, carried out every six months by F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi, highlights the increasing technological awareness of the Brazilian public. Over 50 percent of Brazilians now use the internet – a figure that means 81.3 million people within the nation are now active online. On average, those aged over 12 years spend three hours online with many posting self-created content and using social networking sites. The survey reveals that 60 percent of Brazilian internet users have already substituted traditional television, radio and cinemas with the internet – however, the majority of users still prefer to get their news content online. Online shopping is an increasing trend in the country, with 23 percent of users saying they are used to buying products online. The results also place value on online recommendations, with 48 percent of respondents taking the opinion of other users posted online into consideration before making an online purchase.
