15 February 2011: Seeing framed advertising posters in restaurant bathrooms may soon be a thing of the past. The Canadian advertising company Newad is replacing their static bathroom boards with 22-inch high-definition digital video screens. The motion sensor activated LCD boards enable advertisers to broadcast 15 to 60 second television ads to consumers when they head to the bathroom on a night out. The system acts as a closed-circuit television station, with ads aired around 30 second clips of content on fashion, music and local events. Newad is installing 550 of the screens in a network of trendy bars and restaurants in cities throughout Canada.
